H.E. Dr. Barfuor Adjei-Barwuah

Chairman

(Ghana Ambassador to the United States)

Dr. Barfuor Adjei-Barwuah served as a Ghanaian diplomat around the world, has experience as a business development consultant, and brings over 40 years of experience to OCTC. He lectured at the University of Ghana from 1972 to 1975. He served as Executive Director of the Ghana Tourist Board from 1975 to 1983. He worked as a community liaison officer in Kent, England, from 1987 to 1988. He also earned a certificate in counseling from the Center for Advancement in Counselling in London in 1989.

Dr. Adjei-Barwuah worked in the field of adult education, first as a senior lecturer at Bexley College in London from 1988 to 1991, and as head of faculty access and development at Hackney Community College from 1991 to 1993. From 1993 to 2001, he was a lead adviser at the Learning and Skills Development Agency, a publicly-funded organization that supported continuing education in England and Wales. Dr. Adjei-Barwuah a Professor and Dean of the Business School, African University of communications from April 2010 to October 2010.

 Dr. Adjei-Barwuah has a Master of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Doctor of Philosophy from Indiana University, Bloomington.


Mr. George Akoma Mensah (Lawyer)

Mr. Ankoma Mensah brings impeccable experience to the advisory board.  His leadership role as director of Sports Assist International Ltd, a company that sponsored Ghana’s National under 17 World Cup Tournament qualifiers, helped bring new direction, discipline, and reputation to the team. He was also the Vice President of The Ghana Bar Association Committee on Children, Women, and Minority Rights 2013-2015. His vision has shaped the OCTC strategic plan and policies.  

 


Dr. Roslyn A. Aduhene-Opoku (MD)

Treasurer

(Associate Professor, Baylor College of Medicine)

Dr. Aduhene-Opoku has a passion for serving the underserved community. She minored in Global Health as an undergraduate at Cornell University and was a Global Health scholar as a medical student at the University of Texas at Galveston.

She has traveled to Ghana, Tanzania, and Uganda during her studies abroad and is well versed in the challenges that face young people. Ultimately, in order to have a healthy population, it takes more than just medicine; it takes people that are empowered socially, economically, and socially. Empowerment of young people is what Ocean Tech Craft Training aims to do via education. Dr. Aduhene-Opoku’s experience in working with underserved communities will help to bolster this goal.


Lewis Kofi Antwi, MPH, MA

Secretary

(Commissioned Officer, USPHS Investigator/Consumer Safety at FDA)

Lt Antwi is currently serving as an environmental health officer with the USPHS and assigned to the U.S Food & Drug Administration (FDA) as an investigator. Some of his primary responsibilities as an investigator with FDA include conducting inspections and investigations in the field of biologics and bioresearch monitoring; investigating complaints, injury/illness or death caused by an FDA regulated product; advising industry, state and local officials and consumers on enforcement policies methods and interpretation of regulation; and initiating action against violators.

In addition, he uses his off-duty hours to mentor students, future students, graduates, and alumni looking to having a career with the U.S Public Health Service. His military skills and leadership experience are an invaluable asset to OCTC.
